Physician Member Services

Creating value for our physician and hospital members

At the core of Greater Rochester Independent Practice Association are the services we provide to our members—from care management to quality assurance to contracting. Our members include more than 650 physicians affiliated with Rochester General Hospital and Newark Wayne Community Hospital.

Happier physicians caring for healthier patients. More time for the relationships that strengthen prevention and treatment. Health care could look like this.

Care management—partnering to improve patient health and outcomes

At the heart of our organization are our patient-centered care management services, including in-practice and in-home interventions by medical professionals. These teams—comprised of social workers, registered nurses, clinical pharmacists and others—work to remove the obstacles between you and the care and attention you want to give to every patient.

In 2007, we took an active role in care management in more than 50% of our primary care physicians’ practices. Our efforts included:

  • 1:1 case management
  • home visits and monitoring
  • medication monitoring and advice
  • group educational sessions for patients
  • community referrals
  • patient and family education
  • preventive services

Physicians regularly report back to us that these services not only improve patient care, compliance, and outcomes, but also relieve their practices of some of the administrative burden. Read more about the specific services we offer.

Quality assurance—a commitment to evidence-based medicine

GRIPA has a long history of supporting evidence-based medicine, quality improvement programs, and physician accountability to standards of care. Through our GRIPA Connect™ Clinical Integration program, we are further formalizing our care standards through agreed-upon clinical guidelines.

Our approach has always been patient-centered. Our standards and guidelines are developed by our physicians, who bring intimate knowledge of their patients and local standards as well as national benchmarks. Read more about how we support our physicians through our quality assurance efforts.

Insurer contracts—managing the business of medicine

On behalf of its members, GRIPA negotiates contracts with health insurers. Because of our value-added services to GRIPA physicians, we are able to provide a physician panel with solid patient outcomes, extraordinary patient satisfaction scores and lower utilization of expensive health care interventions through effective prevention and treatment.

Clinical Integration—what’s next for health care

GRIPA Connect™ Clinical Integration is our newest initiative aimed at improving the quality and efficiency of health care. This program creates a connected community of physicians, hospitals, labs and imaging facilities. Physicians share electronic access to patient records, benefit from care management services, and abide by formal, evidence-based clinical guidelines.

The GRIPA Connect Web Portal is online now, and in use by physicians who have enrolled in Clinical Integration. If you are eligible and have not already signed a GRIPA Connect Clinical Integration contract, we invite you to do so. Reach us at 585.922.1525. Learn more about the benefits of GRIPA Connect.

Federal Trade Commission Bestows Favorable Advisory Opinion on GRIPA Connect

GRIPA Connect™ Clinical Integration is only the second such program in the country to receive a favorable advisory opinion from the Federal Trade Commission. This provides a “green light” for GRIPA to continue implementation of the program in the Rochester region, with confidence that we are complying with federal antitrust laws. It also establishes GRIPA as a national leader in the movement toward a progressive business model for independent and community-based physicians. Read more…
